Day 3

Subject: [firstname]: Are you an entrepreneur?

Hey [firstname]!

If you’re reading this I’m guessing the answer to the question I posed in the subject line is ‘yes’. Or maybe you’re not an entrepreneur yet, but you want to be one in the not too distant future.

Either way, it is absolutely crucial that entrepreneurs pay close attention to their branding. There are a number of reasons for this.

First of all, you’ll want your brand to convey trust and authority. After all, when you’re an entrepreneur your reputation is everything. There are a lot of sharks and con-artists out there. Most people’s natural inclination is to be skeptical, so having good personal branding that screams: “[firstname] is somebody you can trust!” can help you to go a long way.

Strong branding can also help you to build your network. There’s an old saying: It’s who you know not what you know that gets you places. Nowadays, a lot of networking is done on social media or on networking sites like LinkedIn.com, so when people you don’t know personally ask to join your LinkedIn network, you can be sure it’s because they like your brand and want to be associated with you – and want you to be associated with them.

Word of mouth is always the best form of advertising, so using your brand to build your network can also result in you getting more clients. Personal recommendations count a lot in business, so taking the time to build your reputation via your personal brand can (literally) pay dividends.

Finally, your personal brand can help to attract investors/JV partners and get your latest venture off the ground. After all, people want to go into business with someone they trust, so making sure your brand conveys the right message is absolutely crucial.
